At first, Willian is not able to find out anything to Malin's discredit.
He has done good work with Anina. And as far as could be discovered, he
had not actively collaborated with the enemy when Duke Drederigo had
conquered Aqualaria. (For his part, Drederigo had not interfered with
Malin, having enough sense not to mess with a mage unnecessarily.)
Meanwhile, in the last few weeks the orcs, whom everyone had thought had been defeated sufficiently severely not to be a serious threat in future, have re-emerged, and have had some notable successes, almost as if they had known the Aqualarian strategy and tactics. The position, though giving cause for concern, is not yet serious, but in a few months it could be if the recent trend continues. It is decided that, whilst Astra 8 will continue to direct operations from the capital (which the modern wonder of radio communication makes possible), Anina will go to take over leadership of a front-line unit, now that she once again has the leadership qualities that are so badly needed in the field.
