"It is unlikely that we could catch up with my tribe now before they reach the caves. They have a long start on us. But I would have no objection to your coming with me, if your own people were agreeable."

"Remember that I said that I wanted to keep this private? So I wouldn't want my own people to know that I was going with you."

"But surely they would be bound to notice if you just disappeared? Besides, I don't suppose that I shall be making the journey alone, so your presence could hardly be kept secret. In any case I don't understand your desire for secrecy. I know that your people's ways are very different from ours, but surely it is only natural for a woman to be concerned about the well-being of her betrothed? I find it hard to believe that anyone would criticise you for having talked to me."
