Time slips away......

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 9003

Agent and Rule smile, admiring the mortals.....former mortals..... bravery. Then the Doctor and the others feel something come over them.....

Those who had been mortal felt time slipping from them, acknowledging them as an equal and excepting them from its jurisdiction. In their minds they see a shadowy, black cloaked figure, Death, shrug and reach over and erase their names from a dark and ominous appointment book.

No going back......

It's a liberating feeling, this sudden freedom. However it is tempered by a fact that has already occurred to them right before this had happened. Immortal they may be now, for all practical purposes, they aren't above feeling pain......and deadly incidents will never be easily ignored. That healthy fear is a part in them all before and remains so now, keeping them from making TOO rash of things.....

The Doctor feels the telepathic link form between himself and his new TARDIS and smiles. It's a good ship. Not like his old Type 40, but a rugged and faithful thing none the less. He also "senses" that this connection also has within it the ability to "regrow" this TARDIS even if it is destroyed.....somehow. That and no matter where she lays, the Doctor could find it with his eyes closed.....psychically.

Betty and Ragan smile, knowing that though this will be....extremely hard to adjust fully and there will be times when they'll regret it..... They know that the best course of action was this. The Doctor needed their help, for they knew things! This way, they could stay around and help, despite everything that it would cost them. They'd already said goodbye to their homeworlds, embracing the opportunities of learning from the Star Fleeter and Military (such as B'Elanna, Elrondir, and Inquirer), being a Companion..... Learning magic..... Life was good, for now.

The elves were already used to the idea of not dying due to old age.....of living for a LONG time. The idea of not dying at all wasn't too big of leap for them. That and they get to go about, righting wrongs, adventuring. Excellent!

Sigin shakes his head, dizzy from suddenly finding his life force not connected to his Hoard back on Terra Prime or his own universe. In a way, that fact alone was heady. He need not worry about thieves stealing his lifeforce AND he got to NOT be bound to one single nation! That, coupled with the fact he was adventuring, helping others......

Inquirer whistles silently and marvels at the whole of it. Before, she knew that with this Avatar body (a construct that was the best of Military/Alliance technology that cost something like THREE times that of her old ship body WITH her base unit within) could last indefinately with enough maintenance and replacement parts......even when she had become a hybrid of magic and science. Now...... Her father was not going to believe this.

Creator, I hope I'll be able to get a message to him soon to let him know that I'm alive! Inquirer sighs and then shakes her head!

"This is almost as weird as that Dungeons and Dragons game I DMed with Alex!" the female golem says softly.

Betty and Ragan glance over sharply at the female AI, surprised.

Maybe we can get her to GM a game or two? they think to themselves.

There is a sudden sense of, motion, out in the void. Somehow, they all know that the multiverses have been unfrozen. Now it is time to go and save a few universes.

"It's time," Agent 1 says finally, "Sorry about not putting you all together in Socorro, New Mexico, but that is one last stipulation on the beginning of this job. A bit of hardship.....Sorry."

  1. The Doctor finds himself standing in the doorway of his new TARDIS, looking down at two rather friendly cats....and a shocked looking young woman who seems to look to be related to Betty?
