Buttons Can Be Tricky Things - Especially When Big and Purple

"Oh! All right then." Reluctantly he put down the comb, moved over to Exotica and began fastening the buttons on her newly donned clothing.

When he had finished, he remarked: "I wonder if the clothes are safe for you to wear. Everything has been so weird, that they could be cursed or something."

"Now he tells me!" Exotica grumped. "You should have said something before... Talking of buttons, I wonder what that big purple one on the wall does." [5466]

Before Fred could say that pressing it might not be a very good idea, she had reached across and done so. He held his breath.

1. But nothing seemed to happen.
2. Water suddenly began cascading down from the ceiling, soaking them both.
3. The light went out, leaving them in pitch darkness.
4. Exotica's newly acquired clothing abruptly vanished.
5. An alarm sounded.
