Aethir MacFionn repressed an inward shudder at the Huntsman's words as he
stood there with Astra of Aquilaria. Though he only faintly recalled his
imprisonment in the tree itself, he remembered enough of it not to want
anyone to suffer as he had. Certainly, it had been pleasant enough at
first, but as time went on, they subjected him to nightmare after hellish
nightmare to try to break his spirit, each worse than the last as each one
had failed. As he had freed the warrior woman, he could see by the wildly
varying expressions on her face that she had been fighting much as he had,
and he knew her spirit was as strong as his. There must be something more
at play here. Astra was no good to them save the fact that she would last
longer than Simon the Anchorite. The fae had to be getting edgy. Simon was
strong enough in spirit to resist them, but his body wouldn't maintain the
illusion long enough for them to ensnare another. Yes. That had to
be it. Aethir MacFionn's visage twisted into a scowl of disgust. "You must be desperate to want back one whom you failed to break," he said, laughing scornfully. "You would do well not to scorn offers made by the Unseelie Court, fool," the Huntsman retorted. "You're in no position to bargain, imp," the legendary warrior said, taking a bold step towards the Huntsman, "as I know you remember this knife. Do you feel the shiver brought on by Cold Iron? I can kill you with this, something few other blades can do..." Lady Andrea Croix walked the tunnels, clutching the small witchlight in her hands. Lord Frederigo D'Honaire seemed to be content to see by the light of the sparse, eerily luminous moss, but the witchlight comforted Andrea. It was one of the first simple charms old Fritha had taught her, the simplest. Its warm, soft white light was easing to her nerves. Frederigo was cursing under his breath, trying to find the signs which would let them find the dvergar who built these tunnels, so that they could lead them through them, escorting them to safety. However, any signs he found were much too old, and led in circles...
