Astra hoped that her compatriots would understand the import of her
visions, as reported to them by Radagaisic's brother. As before, [88878]
she also hoped that they would be able both to mobilise a force and find
a sorceress sufficiently quickly to catch up with the Dunchovian party
before it reached the entrance to the caves. Luckily it was a longer
journey than the one that she had taken from the secret valley; not only
was the entrance further away but also the horses could not travel over
mountainous terrain as she had done, and so their group would have to
take a roundabout route. And they would not be travelling too fast, as
Astra intended to walk rather than run, even though she suspected that
she had the endurance to keep up a fast lope almost indefinitely if she
wished. Since the Aqualarians only knew of one way into the caves, the
one that she herself had originally taken, there should not be any risk
of their failing to understand where they were to go in order to meet up
with the Dunchovians.
If by any chance the tribe should reach the cave entrance without support from Aqualaria having arrived, she would have to try to convey to her new friends that they should wait. Of course, she could not expect them to do so indefinitely; a day or two would probably be the maximum; apart from their natural impatience, there would be a danger that they would start to run short of supplies. But hopefully the eventuality would not arise.
