Astra nodded enthusiastically. Though much of her latest vision had been
misinterpreted, Radagaisic's proposed experiment would be very helpful.
If it should emerge that firelight would not suffice to keep her awake,
then she would have a major problem. She didn't want to have to send the
rescue party through the caves without her. But she would not worry about
that possibility unless the experiment showed that she needed to be
concerned.
Early tomorrow morning, before they broke camp, she would try transmitting her vision again, as Radagaisic had suggested. This time it would be just to Viani, whose headache would hopefully have gone by then. She seemed to be the one best able to interpret Astra's visions correctly. Something said by one of those who had misinterpreted her latest vision had given her an idea. Perhaps she could use her visions to spread confusion and fear in the minds of the enemy. Could she make them see a much larger and better-armed force than the Dunchovians actually were? She wasn't sure that she could broadcast only to the opposition, but it wouldn't hurt if the Dunchovians saw the same vision, as it would serve to encourage them. Except... might seeing the vision be a distraction, and perhaps prevent one of her own side from noticing the enemy soldier who was about to cut his or her head off? As Astra reflected, the bonfire was being built. When the sun neared the horizon it was lit.
