Astra appeared in front of a pool of water. She looked down and confirmed
her reflection: she was still a wolf. She sighed in desperation. What
would she do now?
When she raised her head she saw a very, very large dragon – large even by dragon standards. Its scales were harder than the finest, tempered armor and it had eyes that glowed brighter than the hottest ember in the hottest forge. Its wings that could level a barn with one mighty beat and a tail mightier than the mightiest oak tree. Astra recoiled in fear. The Dragon, however, does not look at her with malice. "Hello, pet," it says. Understandably, Astra was shocked at hearing the dragon speak at her. It seemed so large, so mighty, so monstrous. It only then occured to her that perhaps the dragon wasn't so big; it only seemed that way because of her new size. The dragon continues with a rumble. "Allow me to introduce myself. I am the dragonmage Minestus, and have recently lost a rather promising student at the hands of a knight." Astra let out a yip of confusion. What did all this have to do with her? Minestus appears to understand her anyway. He is a powerful mage, after all. "I had a Dragon in the Southern Caves who was a shape-shifter. He turned himself into a hellhound, and was impaled by a knight known as Fred." Astra blinked. Was this yet another Fred? "Now, this was quite upsetting for me, so now I need to content myself, and I'm going to do it using you." Astra grew even more frightened. Content himself? What did that mean? Was he going to take his anger out on him? Was she going to have to entertain him? But the dragon spoke again:
