"Perhaps I had better slay the dragon first, while I have the chance,
rather than being transported a hundred miles away," Fred said. "As I
said earlier, killing the dragon has to be my top priority. [13972-5] I
am sworn to my King to achieve that or to die in the attempt, and that
has to take precedence over my personal wishes. Though this Wizard of
Kamiro that you've found is, you say, powerful enough to destroy the
dragon, the fact that he hasn't done so already - when the beast has been
a scourge over a huge area for many years - suggests that he might not be
willing to. But don't worry; I won't forget about him, and we'll see if
he can help both you and Velus when I've killed the beast."
Velus was reasonably happy with that, as it was rumoured that if the dragon died all his magicks would be undone, which would restore him (Velus) to his rightful form. As for Astra, her face was unreadable. If she was capable of feeling regret, she was certainly incapable of suggesting in any manner that any decision of her master was wrong or ill- judged. Fred went on: "Do you know where the dragon is, Astra?" "Yes, Master. When I unsuccessfully tried to kill him for you, making the attempt showed me where he was. Now that I am a creature of magic, it is easy for me to detect and locate other magical beings." "Can you lead me to him?"
