She could not detect that he pronounced the words any differently than she had done, but this time the spell worked. Belboz must have been right that he possessed innate magic and she did not.

The spellbook had not mentioned what sort of clothing would be produced by the spell, and Astra was a little surprised to find herself wearing a chain-mail bikini. "Oh! she said.

"Aren't you pleased?" Belboz asked, "I thought that was the sort of thing that warrior princesses normally wore in situations like this, and visualised in my mind the end result that I wanted. That's where the real magic comes in, shaping the generic spell."

"I was hoping for something that would cover rather more and would be more comfortable to wear."
