An Incorrect Assumption

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 88529

"I was assuming..." Astra began.

"You should never assume," Belboz retorted. "I charge for magic. After all, it's my livelihood. True, I didn't cast that particular spell, but it came from my spellbook. It's only reasonable that you should pay me for the use of the book."

"How much?"

"Ten gold pieces. That's very reasonable."

"Rather obviously, I don't have any money on me. Fred, do you have some money in your pack that you could lend me? I'd pay you back at the first opportunity, of course."

Fred replied:

  1. "Yes, I can lend you ten gold pieces. Though I can't help thinking that a ball gown isn't the most practical garment to be clambering through a cave system in."
  2. "I've only five gold pieces."
  3. "I left all my money with my horse and squire, who are waiting for me outside the caves. I hadn't expected there to be any need for money in here."
  4. "My old granny always told me: 'Neither a borrower nor a lender be.'"
