With a party having been sent ashore, the sailors were rather
short-handed to deal with so many captives. Not surprisingly, almost all
their
attention was focussed on the hotties. It might have been different had
Fogeno been on board to instil some discipline.
"Are you a good swimmer?" Fred whispered to Alexis. "If so, we'll leap over the side and swim ashore." "I'm fairly good. But remember that a boat went ashore from the ship, so it's no use swimming back to the island just yet. We'd be bound to run into the boat crew. It might be better to wait till night, by when the boat should have returned and also we are less likely to be be spotted." "By which time the ship might have weighed anchor. We could be ten miles from the island by then. But perhaps we could steal a boat?" "How would we find the island in the dark, if we're some way away by that time?"
