The ghost turned her back on them and started back towards the depths of
her pool. Astra could feel her heart beating normally agan, and turned to
Fred.
"Well," said Astra, "that seemed to do it. Well done, Fred!" Fred put the mortified doggy down. "Thanks, Astra. I just..." but he stopped, for the ghost had turned back towards them. The ghost had not been awakened by Fred's spit, but by Velus peeing on the fence. She therefore felt nothing of Fred's proposal to kill Velus. When he stepped down on it, however, she felt betrayed. She faced the poor Velus, and lounged towards him! What would Velus do?
