Astra had become an ogress. She was over eigbt feet tall, very heavily
built and muscular, and weighed about four hundred pounds. Most of her
body had a sparse covering of coarse reddish-brown hair. Her fingernails
and toenails had become formidable claws, and almost all her teeth
appeared to be canines. Luckily for Fred, she still seemed to view him as
her friend and ally.
"This door seems to be locked," he told her. She grunted, then said: "Astra soon break it down." Her voice was now very deep. Fred had discovered that her command of the common tongue wasn't very good. He wasn't sure whether this was because her intelligence had reduced, or because the ogres had a language of their own and she wasn't very familiar with the common tongue. Astra took a short run-up and shoulder-charged the door.
