Stacy, Melissa, and the Bettys spent a long, boring evening locked up
together in a jail cell. "I should have known," the red-headed Betty was
sighing. "Get involved in a Doctor Who story, and of course you're going
to end up locked up somewhere sooner or later. I suppose I should just be
grateful I haven't sprained my ankle..." But her despondant monolog was
interruped by the police officer who had locked them up coming back to open
their cell. "OK, ladies," he said. "You're free to go. This way,
please." "This way," as it turned out, let to a waiting area where the Doctor was sitting casually, accompanied by a woman in some sort of uniform. "Ah, there you are," he said, standing up. "Sorry about all that, but I think we've got it sorted out now." He glared at the police officer. "It shouldn't have taken so long, but they wouldn't let me make an international phone call. At any rate, I was finally able to get hold of the American branch of UNIT," -- he gestured at the woman, who nodded calmly at them -- "and they're taking matters in hand, so I suppose it's time I was off." He extended his hand to shake, and Stacy took it numbly. "Well," he said, "it's been nice meeting you!"
