There was a horrible metallic crash and the sound of glass breaking.
Stacy, who had negelected to put on her seatbelt, was thrown forward,
hitting her head on the headrest of the seat in front of her. She had only
a moment to regain her balance, and suddenly the man in the backseat with
her was grabbing her hand and pulling her out of the car. Dazed, she
allowed herself to be dragged along. They ran across six lanes of honking,
screeching traffic, then through a confusing maze of alleys and side
streets. At last, what seemed an eternity later, the man stopped. They
both collapsed against a wall, panting, and the man gasped out, "All
right. We should be safe here. I don't think they followed us." Stacy
