Though Sylvan Goldenrod had proved unexpectedly sympathetic towards her
[it's actually episode 23315] at the time of her expulsion - which was
what it had amounted to - Checkers was still pleased, and a little
surprised, that he now seemed to have accepted her claim to have killed
Minestus without question. After all, it was a truly remarkable thing to
have happened. If someone had told her when she set out on her mission
that she would be successful, she would have found it very hard to
believe.
"It is a long story, Elder," she said. "First I must introduce you to Leo." "A human. Goodness! And this looks like a human building too. I'm sorry if that sounded rude, Leo. I hope that you can understand that I am a little disoriented. Greetings to you." Checkers thought that, if she had inadevertantly been going to bring any Glider here, she had been very fortunate that it should have been Elder Goldenrod. Not many Gliders were as influential, and of those who were probably no others would have had any sympathy for her or would have coped as well with the shock of being transportated to a strange place in the presence of a human. They would probably have been unwilling to believe that she had killed Minestus in spite of her evidence. Or perhaps it was more than fortune that it was Elder Goldenrod who had been brought but that the spell had deliberately "chosen" someone appropriate to her need? Introductions over, Checkers told her story as briefly as she could, finishing with the casting of the spell. Even so, it was a long story, and the Elder naturally had many questions, which made it even lengthier.
