The Never Ending Quest - Episode 86590

THAT, coming from the usually arrogant Zerm, was quite an admission.

“Well what am I supposed to do!?” Astra immediately fired back. “You can ignore the problem if you’d like, Zerm, but it wont go away. The fact is a mutual enemy is in possession of an artifact of great power. I made a foolish blunder, and left Alexis with the bottle...alone. My instinct tells me the knight from Allaria and Billingsley have already over powered her.”

“True, true,” the archmage conceded. “It is a bit of a bother. Billingsley is the last person who needs to be in possession of such an item, at least by conventional wisdom. And that goblet he took was part of a set, you know. A set! A genie and it’s master are a peculiar pairing, however, my dear girl. It’s not just the raw cosmic power the little bastard wields that keeps me at bay, no no. There is an ancient wisdom among those who are in the know about these sorts of things…..I, of course, being one of them, can tell you quite frankly that ALL genie bottles are CURSED (for lack of a better word). There also seems to be a bit of manifest destiny when it comes to who finds the bottle and what happens from there. There are larger forces of karma and fate at work here. It’s best to just let these things play out however they are going to play out. They do have a way of resolving themselves. Understand? I really can’t make it any simpler than that.”

Actually, she supposed she did. “I hope you’re right,” was all she could say, though.

“I’m always right,” Zerm answered swiftly and surely, his arrogance finally coming through. “And remember, there’s always a place for you in my dungeon. You know how to reach me. Zerm out.”

“I’ll keep that in mind,” the princess remarked after the abrupt disconnection. “Asshole.”

That still left the matter of the yacht, which was by now so far out as to be irretrievable. The princess cursed her luck, and fell into despair once more.

  1. However it was then that an ancient proverb told to her in her youth suddenly sprang into her thoughts
  2. Another vessel could be seen approaching the island, however. It looked to be a Hespan slaving ship!
  3. Meanwhile, back on the beach, Robert has decided upon his next wish.
  4. Suddenly....mermaids?
