Astra did not hear what Brenda said next, because she had suddenly developed the most terrible headache. She put her hands to the top of her head where the pain seemed to be based. There were two large lumps there, rapidly growing.

When the pain eased a couple of minutes later, Astra had a pair of graceful, swept-back antlers. "What happened?" she gasped.

Brenda responded:

  1. "This sort of thing goes on all the time around here."
  2. "Olytepnarh, the Deer With A Thousand Young!" "I am not! I don't even have one young."
  3. "I've no idea. But I'm certainly not offering credit to a deer-woman."
