Fred strides off, away from the sprites, aiming to return
to his dragon-slaying quest. Unbeknownst to our protagonist however a
kamikaze sprite
has lodged itself in his ear. So it is as if he is being addressed by an
invisible spirit when Fred hears: "Ever hear the one about the birth of Zeus? This'll really crack you up!" Fred jumps with surprise and looks around, but of course there is no-one to be seen. There is an expectant silence for a few seconds and then the voice repeats: "Ever hear the one about the birth of Zeus? This'll really crack you up!" This time Fred draws his sword from its scabbard and scans the area warily. "Who are you? And what do you want?" he asks, completely oblivious to the fact that in 600 years time some dude named Straczynski would base an entire 100+ episode sci-fi series round these two questions. However the voice merely repeats the same question: "Ever hear the one about the birth of Zeus? This'll really crack you up!"
