Where's the Dragon?

Astra scowled. "Though I'd like a weapon, I don't trust that one. I want a sword that I can use, not a sword given me by the Dragon which is liable to try to use me."

"I can understand that. How long have you been trapped down here? From what the lava man said, it sounded as though it could have been quite some time."

"I have no way of knowing. There is no day or night down here. Sometimes I think that it can only have been a week or two; at other times it seems like it has been forever. I originally came here to slay the Dragon, but I hadn't realised how formidable his magic is. He captured and enslaved me. I worked for him for a while, but then he gave me to the lava creature."

"Where did the Dragon go? The lava man said that he had left. I too came here to kill him, but if he is no longer in the Southern Caves then it seems that coming here was futile."

"I wouldn't say that. After all, you have killed the lava creature and freed me."

"I intended no disrespect, Princess. Of course that was far from futile. I only meant that it seems that I am no nearer to tracking down the Dragon."

"I know. And please call me 'Astra', Fred. I've been the slave of a monster, who kept me cooped in a box when he didn't need me. I'm stark naked, my hair is unkempt and I'm badly in need of a bath. So I don't think that this is the time or the place for anything in the way of formality. As to where the Dragon has gone..."

1. "I don't know, I'm afraid."
2. "I know, but the Dragon took the precaution of bespelling me so that I can't tell anyone. It's possible, though, that a powerful mage - such as you appear to be - could break the enchantment."
3. "He hasn't left these caves altogether, merely moved to another section of them. I don't know why."
4. Meanwhile the old man and the shadow continued their game of dice.
