A Lapse in Memory

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 84706

Astra wondered whether she might win these people's trust by telling them about the note that she had found. The trouble was she didn't seem able to remember what it had said. She supposed that her forgetfulness must be a legacy of having been knocked unconscious soon after reading it. She wished that Alric's voice would return to her, since he had claimed to possess perfect recall. What had happened to him?

She smiled ruefully. Just a few hours ago the one thing that she had wanted more than anything had been to get rid of all the voices in her head, and now she wanted one of them back. Of course, Alric had been the only sane one among them. Also, it was surprising just what one could become used to.

Astra decided that she would talk to Furemn first. She was curious as to how a boy of only fifteen or so had come to a dire place like this. Also, being so young, he might be less guarded in what he said to her than the others would be. Perhaps she could find out from him more about the group, about the lisards and about what was going on. She was prepared to flirt a little with him if she had to, having seen how he would look at her and then avert his gaze and blush.

She walked over and sat down next to him. Her improvised skirt rode up in the process to reveal several inches of thigh, but she did not tug it down again.

  1. Astra can learn nothing useful from Furemn, who is evidently less naive than he looks.
  2. Astra can learn little useful from Furemn, simply because he knows little more than she does.
  3. Astra learns quite a bit from Furemn.
  4. One of the others notices that she has gone over to the boy and comes across to join them.
