A mind full of thoughts

It had been an exciting evening, even if ultimately a bit frustrating, but now it was over and Susan headed off to her bed.

Getting to bed was the simple bit as her mind was still full of all of the thoughts that the evening had thrown up and she found it impossible to fall asleep. The more she tried to banish one thing from her mind the more she became preoccupied with it.

This had been a very hard evening for the former knight within her as they had faced up to the prospect of her possible liaison with a(nother) man. That was one issue, but, then when she seemed to have faced it down, she was then faced with the way she had felt so rejected when her Alfred had left so quickly. She then felt confused that she had wanted a more exciting and less solitary end to her evening, even though such an ending would have been wrong for Fred on so many levels.

Poor Fred was stuck in the head of a female who fancied a man and they shared each others torments in the most disturbing of ways.

With so much in her head Susan was unsurprisingly still awake when the sound of the dawn chorus began to be heard through the bedroom window and she . . .

1. turned over in one desperate attempt to get some sleep
2. got up and poured herself a drink
3. began to sob at the mental state she was in
