Hooker was expecting her to rejoin him in the lab at any time now, so it
shouldn't arouse any suspicion if she was to do so. With any luck, once
there she should be able to find an opportunity to talk to Julie alone.
Unless the lab is bugged, she thought. But that could be overcome
by passing Julie a note. She hurriedly scribbled one detailing
what had happened this morning and asking Julie if she still wanted to
go ahead. Then,
since the security measures meant that she couldn't get to the lab
without assistance, she used the intercom [7076] to ask for a guard
to escort her to the lab. (She had rejected the idea of just slipping the
note under the door of Julie's room. That might not give her enough
warning, and anyway there was nothing to stop someone entering the room at
any time and discovering the note.)
When she appeared in the lab, Hooker looked pleased to see her. "Ready to get down to some work, Dr Jones?" "Yes," said Stacy slightly distractedly, looking round to see if she could see Julie Wu.
