"This is very frustrating," Astra said, when they had leafed through the
book right to the end without finding anything more.
"The reference to Glider magic is intriguing. Do you think that Checkers, without realising what she was doing, read a spell from the book that somehow caused you and Belboz to switch places?" "She would have needed to be able to see the writing to do that." "But she could! I heard her reading from it." Fred went on to recount the events described in episode 21981. "Then I wish that she hadn't disappeared. Where are we going to find another Glider?" She spread her hands, for the question was a rhetorical one. Both of them knew that their chances of ever meeting another of Checkers' race was very remote. They resumed walking, and before long arrived at the hamlet and entered the only inn. Naturally their arrival created something of a stir. Fred the villagers remembered from a few days before. They were surprised to see him again, for no-one who had passed through on the way to the Southern Caves had ever previously returned. The innkeeper's plan to sell his horse would have to be abandoned. The beautiful woman, wearing - apart from gloves - only a shirt that exposed most of her seemingly endless legs, naturally caused even more of a sensation. Fred prevailed on the innkeeper's wife to sell one of her gowns which, although it was a very poor fit, was a big improvement. Fred arranged for a room for each of them for the night. When the rooms were ready, they went up to bathe (tin baths of hot water had been provided) prior to coming down to have dinner. Over dinner they would discuss what their next move should be.
