Stacy nodded. "A man from the studio. He saw me leave, he must have followed me here." She felt her back stiffen as she made a great mental effort not to turn around and look. Strangely, she felt betrayed, even though she barely knew Nielson. "He must be working for them," she breathed. Geez, listen to me, she thought. Now I'm talking like some kind of conspiracy theorist... She took a deep breath. "OK, what do we do?"

"I'll get up and leave, try to draw him out, then lose him. You sit here and drink your coffee. Hopefully he'll follow me, but if he doesn't, I'll send somebody back here to help you. You'll know who they are because they'll be wearing the same sunglasses as me." He passed her a folded sheet of paper. "Otherwise, meet me at this address in an hour and a half. All right?"

Not knowing what else to do, Stacy simply nodded. The man nodded back, then got up and left, with a great show of acting casual. Stacy simply sat there stiffly, afraid to give herself away by turning around to check if Nielson was gone. Eventually, curiosity got the better of her, and she risked a quick glance behind her.

1. Nielson was sitting there, staring at her intently.
2. Nielson was nowhere to be seen.
