A little warning ahead of time would have helped....

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 83820

“Well, you really didn’t think I would have left them behind?!” the red haired Kalish woman asked softly a wide eyed Lilith as she looks at a rather disgruntled coupled who’d at one time been known . . .as the Second and Third Children. "But I'll explain later about something in a bit here."

She had hoped to have been able to tell the winged women about them before now. Tell them and tell about the coverstory she and her sister had come up with to lessen any chances of needless heartbreak and such. It had been concocted at the last moments back when Eva had contacted her sister...

These two Children weren't as bad as they'd been but could be . . .touchy at times still.

It had been almost something of a miracle, the Kalish woman finding both Asuka and Shinji where they’d huddled together at the shores of a blood red seas, with the giant corpse of that Rei/Lilith angel in the shallow blood red seas in the distance

Had been even a bigger miracle getting both despondent Pilots to come along with them and not just give up and die with that moribund Earth.

Let’s not talk about the “miracle” of getting these basket cases enough help to make them . . .if not totally normal and “sane”, at least functional enough to be considered . . .eccentric.

It had been something of a brassy *ssed miracle that Eva the other Children had been able to work out ANY kind of working relationship that didn’t involve violence. A relationship that would sooner or later end once Asuka and Shinji here had garnered enough funds to go into business for themselves.

Kind of centered around the old phrase “Men fucking up in a fucked up world“ just why the three could work together, really in the end. All sides realized (NOW) that they‘d been pawns (in one way or another) and what had befallen their old homeworld . . .was SEELE‘s and one Gendo Akari‘s fault.

Not theirs. Not totally, anyway. Oh, they could have done some things different but . ..

But this dead horse has been beaten enough already. To the story then!

“No . . .but a little warning would have been nice,” Lilith says a little tartly, feeling more than somewhat disquieted about this encounter with her former comrades of NERV. It’s not that she feels fear or . . .remorse over the part she’d played in that sad SAD play of events called Third Impact. No, beyond a general sense of disgust and anger over having been what amounted to the plan of madmen to gain godlike power (and watching said plan fall to sh*t, taking almost everyone along to oblivion) she felt nothing.

And that disturbed her. She had known that whatever “transitioning” had been done to her as she’d changed into her current self (from NGE Angel to human) would account for some of it (the deadening of emotional impact of past Angellic memories), she’d somehow expected a bigger impact.

Well, I guess it beat being driven insane with remorse over dark deeds done as an Angel, Lilith sighed to herself. But I would really would have LIKED to have some kind of mother/son bond with Shinji over there, damnit!

The past was dead. A phrase that fit the situation so well here. Lilith had been the mother of humanity. The mother of a young, disturbed boy named Shinji Akari so many times throughout so many repeats of history during her “Yui Akari” incarnations.

Such deadening of emotions from past memories of other lives was necessary to keep one sane as a NGE Angel.

But Lilith, now human, can’t say she likes it now faced with the results.

A former son of her’s just looking at her, somewhat indifferent to her presence. But no! No bond and thus no real magical means at bridging the gulf between former comrades in arms and herself.

Sigh, a distant business relationship would have to do here. Will turn out that Asuka and Shinji here (such a strange business this is) only know the bare basic facts about their passengers here. Nothing about Lilith really being the former Second Angel or anything like that.

It was a lie, really. A lie perpetrated by both Eva and the captain upon these two in order to avoid needless . . .distraction and conflict amongst the crewmembers. And being Faire Folks being Faire Folks (or so the Pilots thought), it was best to keep their distance!

The lie? It was about Lilith and her sisters and their relationship with Eva you see.

Just that she’s one of those odd doppelgangers of Eva, their captain’s sister, here. It would explain (in their mind) the wings. Dragonfly like wings were more common for that eldritch race, but angel like ones weren’t unheard of here.

They’d done enough business with various forms of the Faire Folk so were familiar with such oddities.... Things like how Faire Folk dopplegangers will insist that THEY are actually who they're posing as (and will get MOST dangerously annoyed with you if you correct them).

Nope, the Pilots don't feel like waking up with the head of a chicken from some kind of crazy curse an annoyed Sidhe, thanks a lot!!

Just as long as they didn’t get paid in Fairy Gold, that was fine and good their captain had secured payment that wouldn’t disappear in a puff of mist once the morning sun shined upon it or Cold Iron touched it. Still...

  1. Tell me that you didn’t accept that piece of sh*t you flew over in is the payment for their passage,” Asuka asks, glaring at the spaceship that had landed in the landing bay.
