The woman gave Stacy a distant, professional smile. "Hello, Dr. Jones.
I'm just here to check up on how you're healing." Oh, right. Stacy
remembered now: the doctor had said that she would check up on Stacy in a
couple of days. "I'm fine," she said. "It's healing well. It doesn't
even hurt." The doctor nodded. "May I look at it, please?" When Stacy looked uncooperative, she sighed. "Look, I know you're a busy person, Dr. Jones, but the examination will only take a moment. We don't even need to go to the infirmary; I can look you over right here." Realizing she wasn't going to get out of it, Stacy accepted. She pulled down her pants and lay on the bed while the doctor examined her wound. "Yes, that looks all right," she said. But then, before Stacy could replace her pants, the other woman pulled a small device out of her pocket and ran it in a scanning motion along the scar where the transponder had been inserted.
