Hypnosis

The doctor asked Astra to sit upright on the couch, and simply relax. He suggested that she had had a hard day, and deserved it. Then he said, "Concentrate on the pattern on my tie." Astra looked at the cloth that hung around his neck. It was a dark blue, with red and white boxes on it. Then the doctor said, "You seem to getting sleepy. That is fine. Take a few minutes to just close your eyes and relax." Astra did this, and slumped back a little on the couch. Then she heard the doctor say, "You can keep relaxing until I say the word, 'Piedmont.'" When I say 'Piedmont', you will wake up, but you will be more alert. I will ask you some questions, and you will remember details from your life, and we will talk about them. Does that sound good?"

Astra replied, "Yes."

A little time passed, and the doctor said, "Astra, we are not going to talk about yesterday, or this year. We are going to talk about the little town you grew up in, Piedmont."

Astra opened her eyes.

Astra, do you remember a building in the town square?"

1. Unbidden, she remembered being a young girl and going into a pharmacist's shop in that town.
2. She had memories of being a young girl, but as being a princess in Themyscira, not in a place called Piedmont.
3. Astra was drawing a complete blank.
