The Never Ending Quest - Episode 83511

Perhaps the big magical discharge had stabilised things for awhile. At any rate, the bookshelves no longer seemed to be moving around when they weren't looking. So Astra and Ardua were able to find their way without too much trouble back to where they came in.

Surprisingly, the gnome was sitting at the desk just inside the entrance. Hadn't he been going home? Even odder, he showed no sign of recognising them. Before they could speak to him, Fred entered the library.

"Hello Astra. How did you manage to get here before me?" he asked. "I like your sword. [770 - yes, I'd forgotten about it till now] Who's your friend?"

"I'm Ardua. And you must be Lord Fred. I think that I know what happened to us, Astra. When the magic discharged, it must have sent us back in time by an hour or two."

"Quite likely," the gnome, who had overheard all this, said. "You're not wearing anti-magic wristbands. If you won't take elementary precautions, then the library can't be responsible for the consequences."

Since it was now over an hour till the library would close, and there was no way of knowing whether Fred will find/found/would have found anything useful, the three decided they might as well search it together. "We were looking for you before," Astra explained, "so didn't really pay much attention to the books."

So, remembering to don anti-magic wristbands, the three ventured into the library.

  1. They soon found something interesting.
  2. But they found nothing of interest.
  3. For the first time since the magic discharge, Ardua was in a position to see Astra's backside, and she giggled. Astra had not got off totally unscathed after all. She now had a rather cute little curly pig's tail.
