Stacy was inclined to trust Nielson, but there was nevertheless a niggling
doubt in the back of her mind. After all, hadn't he tried to talk his way
into accompanying her to the coffee shop [7735]? It was probably just
paranoia on her part, but she decided not to take the risk of confiding in
him just yet. "Oh," she said offhandedly, "the mysterious contact showed
up, but he didn't really seem to know much of anthing useful. Probably
just some nutcase, really. Still, I figured I'd give him a chance to say
his piece. Only I forgot my tape recorder, so I came back for it." Except
for that last bit, she reflected, it was, after all, very close to the
truth.
