Adele came dashing out of the shadows, having run down the corridor at top
speed, her mind a storm of emotions, having seen what she had moments
earlier. "Father, please! Stop this!"
What little colour there was in the old necromancer's face drained away. "A...Adele? By the gods, I..." Tears running down her face, she came forward and embraced him. "My sweet Adele...how I have longed for this moment. 800 years is a long time to wait." "Father, you've grow so frail. Your magical energy is still strong, but your aura is strained, troubled...Have you truly lived 800 years? What have you done? What sort of foul deal have you made with Minestus?" "A just question, and one we will now have an answer to!" a new voice called out. Sigin strode confidently into the chamber, followed by Elaine and Matthais. "For too long have you lived with your dark secrets, necromancer. Now, we have seen your confession to this young man first hand!" Sigin couldn't point, but gestured in Fred's direction. Elaine came forward, "Lord Fred, please forgive our earlier deception, It wasn't you that we did not trust, but Belboz. If we had all confronted him together, we may have never learned the truth of his association with Minestus." Turning to Astra, she said "Princess, I must apologize to you as well. Please, do not be startled." Elaine waved her hand, and Astra's right eye suddenly seemed to alight, She cried out, more out of surprise than pain. A thin, iridescent lens of light came free of her eye and floated in front of her. "A spyglass?" Belboz said, realizing his error. "An ancient magical art, one that has since been lost to time. It allows the caster to see through the eyes of another. Of course, being Tellurian, you knew how to create one." "Yes. I implanted it into Astra's eye when I freed her from the jewel. Through it, we all saw and heard what you said to Fred and these two princesses. That you are a pawn of Minestus, and that you fashioned some sort of truce with him, which has kept us alive but held for centuries in stasis. Now we will know the details of that truce, or so help me I will strike you down!" "Brash as ever, Elaine. You have learned nothing since my old freind Celubar taught you at the mages guild. Adele, did you know of this trickery as well?" "We kept it from her until the last moment, knowing how upset she'd be. But she has seen, just as we have." Adele nodded, and came to stand apart from her father, at Matthias' side once more. "I stand with them, Father."
