Slow Motion Retreat

They run from the flamethrower-wielding Ben Schumin in extreme slo-mo.

Of course, they're the only ones running in slow motion. Everything else, including Ben, is moving at normal speed.

A squirrel chattering on a branch overhead falls silent. It stares at them in fascination as they pass underneath its perch over the course of several minutes. It tosses a nut at them and scurries off.

Schumin watches them as well. Presently, he sits down and takes a sack lunch out of his backpack and unwraps a hoagie. He munches idly while he watches them running away.

"Hurry, he's gaining," says Sara, her voice an incredibly deep baritone. It takes her nearly a minute to complete the statement.

"I'm running as fast as I can," yells Jasper back, his voice an even deeper bass, over the course of the next few minutes. His voice is an unintelligibly slow growl/

1. Ben finishes his lunch and takes a nap. When he wakes up, they're almost twelve feet away.

3. Several months later, Sara and Jasper make it into town. They try to ask directions.
4. Spengbab comes running out of the woods to chase them, also in extreme slo-mo.
5. Several midgets gather around them to make fun of them.
