A few days after the four's arrival, Astra's mother, the Queen, sent for
her. She sighed when she saw her. At least Astra was no longer dressed in
the next to nothing that she had been wearing on her initial appearance,
but she surely might have made some effort to try to hide her bump. At
six months, a cunning choice of clothing could have made her pregnancy
not too obvious, but she seemed almost to have gone out of her way to
emphasize it.
"You sent for me, Mama?" Astra said. "I'm sorry, Astra," the Queen responded, "but feeling among the people about your extra-marital pregnancy - and even worse by an under-age commoner - is running very high.
