Fred Has Overlooked Something

"So won't you now have to wait another six months for it to recharge again?" Velus asked.

Fred's mouth dropped open. "Doh! Why didn't I think of that? Now I'm stuck with you weirdoes for another six months."

"Look who's talking," Astra said.

"At least I haven't put on weight," Fred retorted.

Astra's face fell. "I can't understand it," she said. "I had to stop wearing my invisible armour because it wouldn't fit me any more. Yes, it was hot and heavy, and there isn't anything dangerous on the island, but I felt better wearing it."

1. Alfred smiles but still says nothing.
2. Alfred can stand it no longer. "She's about six months pregnant, you idiots. Which means that the father could be either Fred or Velus. But my money's on Velus."
