"It was obvious that large numbers of people suddenly going down with amnesia would arouse a lot of media interest. What better way to defuse that than by getting some high profile reporters to work on the story, reporters that they already had in their pocket and could rely on not to discover anything?" "Well, if you're paranoid enough, I suppose that's vaguely plausible," said Stacy. "But why should the government want to give hundreds of New Yorkers amnesia in the first place?"

  1. "It's to cover up something that makes Roswell look insignificant in comparison."
  2. "We just don't know. We hope that your notes might give us some clues."
  3. "No time to explain now. We must go and rescue your notes at once."
