Upon seeing the corpse, Sir Josh sits down and starts crying: "What have I
done? What have I done?"
He looks down upon the inert body of his third cousin's father's brother- in-law and a wave of remorse hits him like a ton of masonry tiles. Sir Fred looks almost peaceful. He looks upon the sword that is still dripping with blood: "Bad sword, bad sword" he says to it. Silence filled the cavern for many moments. It became so quiet that Josh could hear the breeze flutter - strange how a cave could entertain moving drifts of air - and upon the wisps of wind he could almost hear voices. He thought he heard a strange tongue similar to the barbarians who hail from the Visperges of France; the wind shifted and it sounded as if children were singing about pirate treasure; again a new breeze brought in the chinkling of metal against rock and a tiny voice yelling something about a pocket-protector. Josh looked again at the corpse. "What would you have me do?" said Josh to the dead Fred. There was no answer. "Speak up, damnit!" No answer still. In his own mind, though, Josh DID hear something, and responded in kind: "Ah, THAT is what you want of me. Alright, dear cousin, I will continue on this journey, I will still slay the Dragon in your name." With that Sir Josh entered deeper into the Southern Caves, deeper into the bowels of stone and rock, deeper into the very mouth of mystery and deceit.
