Astra and Fred were able to find the following in the kitchen:

One large honeydew melon
One bunch of bananas
One ball of twine (found in every well-stocked kitchen)
Two bread knives, with blades that were about as long as Astra's forearm

After twenty minutes, Fred and Astra were fed, clothed, and armed. They walked back toward the room, and found that, underneath the bed, there was

1. a box.
2. a trap door.
3. a slip of paper with some instructions.
