There was a long table with dishes of food and bottles of wine on it.
Around it
sat a group of men and women. They sat, that is, apart from those who had
passed
out and lay in a drunken stupor on the floor and those women who sat in
men's laps.
It wasn't at all what Astra had expected to find. Apart from anything else, what sort of people could be apparently totally unaffected by the extreme heat? Having hidden behind a conveniently placed rock and watched them for a minute or two, she turned to go.
