Jasper and Sara have successfully holed up in the Hardees and hardened it against the zombie hordes outside. They have nailed every table and every chair to the windows, helping to keep the undead at bay. The customers and employees had all fled at the first sign of the zombie infestation, leaving them with a fully-stocked restaurant. Even though the power failed two week ago, a small emergency generator in the basement supplies electricity to cook meals provided they carefully ration the diesel. Twice in the last month the zombies had attempted to tear their way into the restaurant by main force, and twice they had been repelled--perhaps the owner of the restaraunt had had a thriving business venture on the side that authorities frowned upon, because there had been four automatic rifles and a shotgun in the basement as well, and four full crates of ammunition. Another box had held a six-pack of grenades; yet another crate had contained several kilo blocks of a gray putty that probably wasn't Play-Do. The television stations aren't broadcasting. For the last three weeks, the only thing the radio has carried has been military and civil defense instructions and coded messages. The last transmission cut out three days ago, and now all they can get is static.
