This wild, mountainous region had never been heavily populated. Since the
dragon had taken up residence in the Southern Caves (except when making
an occasional extended visit to the Sweltering Jungles of the South),
unsurprisingly most of what neighbouring settlements there once were had
been abandoned.
"As far as I know," Astra said, "the nearest Aqualarian village to the south of the mountains that is still inhabited is two full days travel from here." "I don't think that there's anything nearer on the Allarian side of the border." "And even if there were, going there would take us in the wrong direction, since we need to go south. Because this area is so depopulated, we are unlikely to encounter anyone before reaching the village, and the weather is reasonably warm, so my nudity shouldn't be a major problem."
