Even from his unfamiliar vantage point, Fred recognised the city. The royal palace at its centre, which he had visited on a diplomatic mission a year or two earlier, was unmistakable.

Fred realised that the dragon was heading straight for the palace. What did it intend?

  1. He soon found out.
  2. He dragon descended and deposited Fred in the palace courtyard.
  3. An archer - female, naturally - on the highest tower of the palace let fly an arrow at the dragon. It embedded itself deep in the beast's chest.
