How Could He Do That?

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 77309

"That's scary," Joe said. "How could he do that? I'd heard of him and his predictions, but I didn't know that he had predicted that the world would be abandoned by everyone - or almost everyone - today."

"And he was writing almost 500 years ago!" Stacy said. "Assuming that it's 2008 here like it is where I come from."

"It is," Louise confirmed.

"But if he was famous for his predictions, then I'd have expected there to be a lot of publicity in the media about how he prophecied that the world would become deserted today," Stacy said. "How come you didn't hear about it?"

"Maybe the various governments asked the media not to publicise it," Joe suggested. "After all, it would have caused a massive panic." Stacy allowed that this sounded plausible.

Astra said: "Rather than looking at these general history books, we should perhaps look at books devoted to Nostradamus and his predictions, in the hope of getting more information that may help us. I assume that this library must have some, if he's so well known." The others agreed that this was a good idea.

  1. But all the books about Nostradamus had been removed from the shelves. Another government anti-panic measure?
  2. The first book on Nostradamus that they found contained all his prophecies in full. "Oh boy," Stacy said. "It seems that the world being deserted will soon be the least of our worries, if he is proved accurate."
  3. The first book that they found included copies of the original illustrations to the prophecies drawn by Nostradamus himself. Including one that was unmistakably of Astra!
  4. Joe was still worrying about why she hadn't heard of the "end of the world" prediction before.
