As Astra had walked with Garren, she had found that her broken rib (or
possibly ribs) did not trouble her too much - she had an occasional
twinge if she took too deep a breath - and her other injuries did not
bother her at all. However she should obviously try to avoid too much
exertion for a while, if she wanted the damaged rib(s) to heal.
Now she saw the light of a number of torches up ahead. They must be approaching "base camp". Soon she could make out Wren and Ghent, whom Garren had sent to scout ahead. There were also three strangers, who must be Raef, Pasfina and Sorlone. That accounted for everyone except Poliaun, who she remembered had been sent to track the injured lisard, and the boy Furemn. Astra did not know where the latter had gone after bringing her some clothes. Astra was introduced to Raef, Pasfina and Sorlone. Once that had been seen to, she raised the matter that was uppermost on her mind. "Does any of you have a spare weapon that I could borrow? I have clothes now, for which I'm very grateful, but I still feel a little naked without one." "You should be taking it easy, not indulging in combat," Wren - the healer - scolded her. Astra smiled. "Perhaps, but has anyone told the lisards that? If one attacks me, I want to be able to defend myself. Better to delay my ribs' healing than to risk being disembowelled. Also I want to be in a position to help defend the rest of you, should that be necessary. I owe you too much to turn my back on you."
