Astra Makes a Run for It

There hadn't been any further explosions for the last couple of minutes,
so Astra thought that she would have a sporting chance of escape. If
there was going to be a follow-up air attack, which was likely, hopefully
she would have enough time to get well away from the complex first.
In spite of her heavily pregnant condition, with a great effort she somehow managed to kick the single armed guard in the throat. Luckily the guard was rather short, and Astra's legs were very long. She almost overbalanced when her foot made contact, but just managed to stay upright. She grabbed the gun from the guard as the woman fell, then raced - or as near to raced as she could manage - out of the building. "No, Astra!" Lesba called after her. "It's certain death out there!" Astra paid her no heed. Once she was outside, she could just make out through the smoke and dust the hills that surrounded Arcadia on all sides. In one direction, she could see the Falstadt Army massing. No doubt it would be moving down into the valley before long. So she headed in the opposite direction.
