Fred's remark that it did not show, rather than any more startled
reaction at the sight of Astra, was a result of the wild stories which
he had heard about Aqualarian warrior women. He hadn't realised that even
they were not usually six feet eight inches tall. Astra had grown in
height by almost exactly one foot, and proportionally in her other vital
statistics, and her weight gain was commensurate with that.
"I'm surprised that the dragon has been so thoughtful as to provide you with entertainment," Fred said. "I supposed he must have some purpose in mind for me for which he needs me sane," Princess Astra said. "I doubt that it was out of the goodness of his heart... Have you found anything yet that might cut through my chains?" Fred ceased rummaging through his pack. "Not yet, apart from my sword. And I'd sooner not use that if I can avoid it, as it would be sure to ruin it." The smelly monkey (and former knight) who had led them to Astra joined in the conversation: "Oook, o-ook, okok." Velus translated. "He suggests that if the Princess's strength has grown proportionately with her size, then she might by now be strong enough to break her chains or wrench them out of the wall." "Good idea," Astra said. "I haven't tried that recently, having grown discouraged by my failures. It's high time that I tried again." She flexed her muscles and pulled at her chains. Soon her naked body was covered in sweat. Fred tried not to stare at her too obviously.
