Astra pondered. "Well, it is traditional, and tradition counts for a lot. On the other hand, whilst such attire might distract human opponents, I doubt whether it would work against a dragon. Anyway, it would take too long to go all the way back to Aqualaria, so I think I will have to make do with whatever I can find in the nearest Allarian town or village to the cavern mouth."

"I suppose so," Fred replied. He went on: "there's one thing I ought to mention, though. I don't think it would be wise for you to come into town in your current state of undress. I'm afraid there would be ribald comments. I suggest that you let Velus and me go into the town whilst you wait outside. I will choose something suitable for you to wear, and bring it back to you." "Wuff," agreed Velus.

  1. "I suppose that would be sensible," Astra replied.
  2. "I don't think that I trust you to choose for me. And anyway I find that waving a sword about is remarkably effective at discouraging rude remarks."
