“500 channels and not one good thing on!” Reaibn bawls out as neon green
phlegm oozes from the corner of his
mouth. He throws the remote at Josh in a fit of impotent rage. Josh ducks
away just in time, but the emotional wounds have already been inflicted.
The gushy gimp erupts in lachrymal secretion (or ‘tears’, as the commoners
say) and makes a mad dash to the room with the secret passageways. He is
never seen or heard from again; not because he escapes the staircase room,
but because everybody ignores him. “Calm down, retard,” Scott says,
retrieving the remote. “There’s a Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman marathon
on Lifetime.” He changes the channel and settles back down to his
favorite greasy spot on the teal sofa he’s been occupying since as long as
he can remember. “Dr Quinn represents a strong independent frontier woman
who isn’t afraid of bears or darkies,” he explains. “Darkies?” Reaibn queries, a bit taken back. “You mean Indians?” Scott rolls his eyes. “Whatever.”Actually, the correct term is NATIVE AMERICAN, the narrorator chimes in. “Whatever,” the two reply in tandem.
