Stacy saw a large block of stone on the far side of the room, some 7 feet
long by three feet wide by four
feet high. A beautiful young woman wearing a long white dress lay on her
back on the stone. Her
feet were bare.
She looked as though she might be drugged. Around the stone stood six
people in black robes, with hoods that prevented
Stacy seeing their faces. One of them held a large book, from which he was
reading out
an incantation in some language that Stacy didn't recognise. Another
carried a large
wicked-looking knife. Stacy sensed that when the incantation finished, he
would plunge it into
the girl's heart.
Fortunately the room was large enough, and the devil worshippers were so engrossed in their ritual, that the dim illumination of the area near the door from the 60 watt bulb that Stacy had switched on passed unnoticed.
