Once they get inside the city, a sense of peace and security overwhelms
Fred, Astra, and Velus. Various people nod to them, and they compose a
wide variety of races, sizes, and styles of clothing. On either side, there
are roads that go into the city, with the first several on the left side
going to what appears to be a goblin encampment. They stay going north, as per the guards instructions, until Velus whimpers and points at a ... thing... headed towards them. It has the shape of a man, but is surrounded by a shadowy cloud. Its skin is a pale red in color, and ragged wings are folded on its back. Its face is a demonic visage, and as they all stand still in shock it grins at them and gives a slight nod, before moving on past them to a street on the right-hand side. A sense of fear, which seemed to follow the creature, also passes. "What the hell was that?!" says Fred, prompting head shakes from Astra and Velus. They all then resume walking north, with Fred continuing to talk "yes, we must ask about... that." They can now see in the distance a large glowing sign depicting the words "TRAVELERS INN". It is blinking, and there are arrows pointing down to the rather large establishment. It appears to be as big as a castle, and stands in the center of the city. The sight of it fills our adventurers with hope, and they walk forward with renewed vigor. #Welcome to our city# the party hears, but then realize that they only heard it in their minds. Standing off to the side as they walk pass and bowing down is a another strange creature. It stands about eight feet tall, and has slightly glowing skin. Coming off its back are what appears to be shimmering wings of light. Its eyes are swirling gold. #be at peace# they hear again, and they do feel a palpable sense of peace as they finally leave the southern road into the central square of the city.
